Description
This seated Buddha is cast in copper and finished with gilding, presenting a dignified image of the Enlightened One in a classical meditation posture. The figure sits cross-legged with the right hand extended downward in the earth-touching gesture and the left hand resting in the lap, an iconography traditionally associated with the moment of enlightenment. The face is composed and symmetrical, with gently lowered eyes, an urna at the brow, elongated earlobes, and a softly modeled mouth that conveys stillness and inward concentration.
Particularly appealing is the sculpture’s surface character.
