Overview

A Yixing zisha teapot combining sculptural plum blossom decoration, poetic inscription, and the literati sensibility long associated with refined tea wares.

Description

This Yixing zisha teapot combines sculptural decoration with literati character. The warm reddish-brown clay body is enriched by plum blossom relief and an incised inscription, bringing together ceramic craftsmanship, poetic sensibility, and the decorative language associated with Yixing tea wares.

The rounded body, curved spout, and loop handle create a balanced composition, while the knop echoes the branching motif and reinforces the unity of the design. On one side, the plum blossom decoration introduces a symbol of resilience and refinement; on the other, the inscription reflects the close relationship between tea, calligraphy, and cultivated taste. The clay surface shows the soft maturity and handled character collectors often appreciate in zisha wares.

Best understood as a Qing-style Yixing teapot, this piece is appealing for its form, material warmth, and literati-inspired decoration.
